Chapter 5 - Inclined Surfaces in Orthographic Projections

Example 5-1

(Go back)

Notice that the surface A appears as a line in the front orthographic view. Surface A is perpendicular to the frontal projection plane. It is at an angle (inclined) to the horizontal and profile planes and therefore it appears foreshortened in the top and side views. Surface A does not appear true size (TS) in any of the principal views. Edge A appears as a line in all three views.
Edge A is parallel to the frontal projection plane and therefore appears true length (TL) in the front orthographic view. Edge A is at an angle to the horizontal and profile planes and therefore appears foreshortened in the top and side orthographic views.
