Chapter 4 - Normal Surfaces in Orthographic Projections

Example 4-5

Given: Top and Front views.
Required: Draw the right side view.

(Next look at surface (28,29,44,43))

(Go back)

For identification, the visible surfaces in the top view are labeled. These have all been drawn in the side view except A and B. Surface A or B could possibly appear as lines (28,29), (46,45), or (43,44), in the front view. Use a process of elimination.

B can not be on the same plane as E, C, or D. This eliminates lines (28,29) ans (43,44). Surface B is (46,45), partially hidden, partially visible, line (X,Y) in the side view.

Surface A can not be on the same plane as B, C, or D. Surface A is line (28,29), line (R,S) in the side view.
