CIOs of major corporations will present their viewpoints on the opportunities and challenges facing them. Topics include convergence – its implications, security concerns and benefits, connectivity and access to applications anywhere and anytime, navigating today’s real-time economy, managing a global workforce, outsourcing, enterprise content management, emerging technologies, DRM, balancing homeland security with corporate goals, mobile computing, 802.11 and other 802.x standards and intelligence in services.  

The reduction of voice ARPU, rapid proliferation of VoIP, and global competition is rapidly changing the way in which Carriers function. New business models such as convergence of voice and data infrastructure or the packaging of wireless and wireline services, etc., are being offered. Convergence could squeeze out some existing services, while creating new ones. Carriers and their suppliers/partners will present new services, technologies, business models and ideas that they are trying.

  A new industry for distribution of Multimedia content over personalized mobile devices is creating opportunities while bringing tremendous challenge to the status quo. Issues of importance include content ownership, content monetization, the creation of new markets such as movies, games, news, sports on cell phones, new business models, new technologies, etc. Practicing experts from Hollywood’s Entertainment and Media industry will shed light on how Mobile/Wireless is changing their industry.
  Enterprises are adopting wireless and mobile technologies rapidly since they are finding productivity and financial gains when this technology is implemented correctly. While wireless technology is changing rapidly, implementing real-solutions within the enterprise requires systemic thinking. Convergence should result in simplification of usage and implementation. The Mobile Enterprise Forum discusses applications, technologies and lessons learnt from deploying wireless in the enterprise.
  Recent and rapid development in RFID including the coming of the mandates, convergence of industry towards Gen 2, the emergence of standards in RFID, early results of pilots, etc., is resulting in major interest from end users, systems integrators, hardware providers and middleware/software providers.  This forum will discuss impacts of RFID on select verticals, mandates status, business models, supply chain implementation, strategy and adoption of RFID, deployment lessons, Business Process modification, etc.
